9 Ways to Use the iPhone 15 Pro's Action Button

This button functionality is new on iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. It replaces the silent mode of previous models, including the 15 and 15 Plus. You can launch apps, create shortcuts, or silence your phone. That's all you can do.

1: Enable Quiet mode (Default)

The default option is to enable Quiet Mode, which is the previous change. To use the follow button, press and hold the button. (The button above the volume control on the left side of your phone.)

To set up the function buttons, go to Settings > Function Buttons and choose one of the options behind it.

2: Start the camera

If you want to use the camera faster than clicking the app icon, use the Follow button as a shortcut. Ideal for traveling or taking photos at a party.

3: Turn on accessibility features

Do you have accessibility options? Use this button as a shortcut to features like Invert Colors, VoiceOver (screen reader), and Live Captions.

4: Start Voice Notes

Whether you're doing research, working in the field, or any other activity where you need to keep short notes. Leave Voice Memos without losing anything. The shortcut for Memo is Clutch.

5: Trigger Shortcuts

You can use the function button to complete your favorite without asking Siri or clicking the widget.

Shortcuts is a free iOS app that you can set up to find travel times to places, calculate directions, open Playlists, and more without opening the navigation app.

6: Turn on the flashlight

Going camping? In an open concert? Are you trying to find your way in an unfamiliar place? Click the (Click) button to speed up the installation. Press and hold again to turn it off.

7: Enter analysis mode

If you find yourself distracted by phone malfunction or connection to your phone, use the button here to toggle focus mode on and off. Review mode is a variant of Do Not Disturb but allows you to set notifications and auto-replies

8: Launch the Magnifier app

9 : Interviewing an interpreter

This is a good idea if you are traveling or spending time with someone who speaks another language (meaning fast).
